Cheshire has been a core area for Clydesdale from the beginning. The business was established in Stockport on the Cheshire border in the early 1980s, building high-specification sectional timber buildings for the equestrian market, and our farm workshops in the High Peak are within easy reach of the whole of east Cheshire and the Cheshire Plain.

Our own team of joiners installs across the county: timber stables, tack rooms and American barns for Cheshire yards and livery businesses, field shelters and mobile field shelters for paddocks, and garages, workshops, summerhouses and garden offices for Cheshire homes. Everything is made to order and installed onto your prepared base.

Planning in Cheshire

Applications go to Cheshire East or Cheshire West and Chester depending on where you are (or to the Peak District National Park Authority for the small part of east Cheshire inside the park). Stables and barns usually need permission; some garden buildings and mobile field shelters can fall outside it, but that is decided case by case. We can support your application with drawings and specification.

Equestrian country

Cheshire is horse country, and stables are what we are best known for: a standard range in standard sizes plus tack rooms, corner boxes and fully bespoke blocks, with options for roof pitch and materials, extra ventilation, louvred windows, lined roofs and insulation. Our traditional vertical cladding gives excellent resistance to driving rain.
